About VIP
Voices In Praise (VIP) is a faith-based, community youth choir program in Calvert County Maryland with ensembles for students in Grades 4 - 12. Founded in 1998, VIP provides amazing opportunities to sing, serve others, and grow in faith and friendship. All rehearsals take place on Monday nights at St. Nicholas Lutheran Church, 1450 Plum Point Road, Huntingtown, MD 20639.
VIP navigates a rich musical landscape, performing a range of choral music from classical to contemporary, along with toe-tapping spirituals, well-loved hymn arrangements, gospel numbers, and multicultural pieces.
The choir is actively involved in both local community outreach and musical endeavors beyond their own backyard. During their biennial tours, the choir has traveled throughout the U.S., Canada, Ireland, Russia, and Belize. They perform at churches, community events, homeless shelters, retirement communities, schools, summer camps and more. Notable performances include the National Christmas Tree in Washington, D.C., the Basilica at Notre Dame University in South Bend, Indiana; Christchurch Cathedral in Dublin, Ireland; and the Lutheran Cathedral of St. Peter and Paul in St. Petersburg, Russia.
What sets VIP apart is their exceptional work ethic and discipline, reflecting the dedication and commitment of each singer and adult leader. The choir fosters a profound culture of kindness and respect, creating an environment where each member feels valued, supported, and able to give their musical best. This atmosphere not only enhances their collective performance, but strengthens the singers' individual musicianship, builds their self-confidence, improves mental health, and more.
